Yankees Struggling Already?

New York Yankees Trying to Regroup After the Opening Home Game Loss Against Baltimore

The New York Yankees were hoping for a much better home opener than what they actually managed, in their opening home game loss against the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday, the 8th of April 2014. In front of the packed home crowd of around 36,000 at the Yankee’s Bronx stadium, New York Yankees were blown away 14-5 by Orioles. After the game, Yankee’s catcher Brian McCann remarked that the team as a whole had an off day. But even before the game started, questions were raised about the form of the Pitcher Ivan Nova who put up a below-average showing in his first outing with the Yankees this season against Houston last Thursday. Nova started slowly against Houston before regaining some of his form in the later stages of the game against Houston. But against Baltimore Orioles, he was woefully out of form and had to be relieved in the fourth innings of the game.

Vidal Nuno also couldn’t retrieve the situation for Yankees, as he gave away four runs in the sixth innings and three runs in the eight innings to complete a miserable home outing for the Yankees. In the next game on Wednesday, 9th of April 2014, there have been reports that Masahiro Tanaka would be making his Yankee stadium debut against Baltimore Orioles. But the Baltimore Orioles are not too much worried about Tanaka. Baltimore Slugger Adam Jones has already raised the pressure on Yankees by saying that Tanaka would be extremely nervous at the start of his first home game. Those Yankees fans that have already got the Yankees single game tickets for Wednesday’s game would be eager to see the performance of the Japanese pitcher, Masahiro Tanaka. But the Baltimore Manager had some encouraging words for the Yankee fans. Orioles Manager Buck Showalter feels that Tanaka would have an edge as none of the Orioles players have faced him. Showalter felt that a new pitcher always had an advantage irrespective of the opposition strength.

Despite the Yankees’ embarrassing defeat, they will soon get the chance to redeem themselves against the Orioles. The Yankees are always a powerful team, and a disappointing opening game doesn’t change that fact. Many of the Yankees fans are eager to see their team get its revenge against the Orioles during their next meetup. You can buy Yankees single game tickets at Yankee Stadium, or online. It’s shaping up to be a season that you definitely don’t want to miss.
